Göknur Marble

Stone atelier · Handmade in Türkiye

Objects carved from solid stone.

Göknur Marble is a small atelier turning quarried marble and travertine into serving bowls, bath sets and sculptural objects for the home — each piece cut, turned and honed by hand, one block at a time.

Block to bowl · filmed in the atelier

Every piece begins as a mountain — and keeps something of it.

No moulds, no composites, no shortcuts. A block is chosen for its veining, sawn to rough form, then shaped on the lathe and finished by hand. The grain that runs through your bowl ran through the quarry face first.

Signature pieces

A few things we keep coming back to.

Rustic serving bowl carved from silver travertine on a neutral background

Silver Travertine

The serving bowl

The piece the atelier is known for. Turned from a single travertine block, its striped grain means no two bowls ever match — a centerpiece that works as hard as it looks.

Travertine

The bookends

Solid enough to hold a shelf of hardcovers, sculptural enough to stand alone. Cut and honed as a mirrored pair from the same block, so the grain flows across both.

Stone keeps temperature the way ceramic never will. Carved with walls thin enough to lift lightly and thick enough to hold heat — an unhurried way to start the day.

The craft

From quarry block to your table, in four acts.

  1. Craftsman inspecting the cut face of a travertine block at the quarry
    01

    Quarried

Blocks are selected at the quarry for color and veining — the decision that shapes everything after.

  2. Wet saw blade cutting through a travertine block, water spraying off the blade
    02

    Cut

Each block is sawn to rough form. Offcuts return to the workshop for smaller pieces; little is wasted.

  3. Craftsman shaping a travertine bowl on the lathe in window light
    03

    Turned & carved

The form is shaped on the lathe and refined with hand tools — walls thinned, curves trued, edges eased.

  4. Weathered hands hand-polishing a finished travertine bowl on a workbench
    04

    Honed & sealed

Surfaces are honed smooth and sealed with a food-safe finish, ready for daily use.

Questions, answered

Before you order

Where can I buy your pieces?

Everything is sold through our Etsy shop — the catalogue, current stock and checkout all live there. This site is the atelier's front window.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Orders ship worldwide from the workshop in Türkiye with tracking; delivery details and times for your country are shown at Etsy checkout.

How do I care for marble pieces?

Hand wash with mild soap, dry with a soft cloth, and keep acids (lemon, vinegar) from sitting on the surface. Sealed stone lives happily in daily use.

Can you carve a custom piece?

Often, yes — message the shop on Etsy with the stone, size and shape you have in mind, and we'll tell you honestly whether the block can do it.
